Prof. Yoon-Joong Lee (1973-86), Prof. Han-Jo Lee (1974-85), Prof. Se-Wook Hur (1986-99), Prof. Dong-Hyang Lee (1976-2006) have retired from The Department of Chinese Literature, and Prof. Jae-Hoon Lee was appointed in 1982, Prof. Young-kil Paik in 1988, Prof. Yong-Chul Choe in 1994, Prof. Kyu-Bal Choi in 1999, Prof. Dong-Chion Zang in 2000, Prof. Hyok-Jun Kwon in 2004, and Prof. Joon-Yoon Kim in 2007.

After the establishment of formal diplomatic relations with China, Professors Zhao Feng Xiang, Zhao Li Ming, Hou Xue Chao, Ning Jia Yu, Tong Qing Bing, Liu Shi Qin, Wang Fu Ren, Woo Guo Ping, 린Lin Yin Sheng, Wang Yao Ming, Huang Shu Shung, Gao Yuan Bao, Cui Su Hua, O Zhao Lu, Liu Ning, Sun Xi Xin, Li Chun Qing, Ping Yue Ling, Cen Yuan Quiang, Zhang Ye Song, Guo Chang Bao, Yin Ji Ming, Zhang Hai Ming, Shen Qing Li, Liu Miao, Tang Jin Hai, Yao Da Yong, Han Lei, Zuo Si Min, and Cheng Hua Ping, all from mainland China, have served for over a year as visiting professors in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature. Since 2015, Prof. Jin Lixin has been serving as a visiting professor.
The specialist fields of the professors that constitute the department's faculty at present are as follows: Prof. Jae-Hoon Lee (Classical Chinese Prose; Confucian Classics), Prof. Yong-Chul Choe (Classical Chinese Novels), Prof. Young-kil Paik (Modern Chinese Novels), Prof. Kyu-Bal Choi (Modern Chinese Grammar), Prof. Dong-Chion Zang (Modern Chinese Poetry), Prof. Hyok-Jun Kwon (Historical Chinese Phonology), Prof. Joon-Yoon Kim (Chinese Classical Poetry), and Prof. Dong Mei Zhao (Chinese Education). Chinese linguistics, classical Chinese literature, and modern Chinese literature, which are the three largest general academic fields in Chinese language and literature, are equally important within the curriculum.
